For me, having focused on CB all year, this was a depressing year. Not because there was no talent, just because the top end talent didn't dominate and the talent that crept upwards all have question marks. Makes the evaluation process difficult.
Given what I'm seeing, if we want a CB it's going to have to happen with our first pick.
1) Denzel Ward
2) Mike Hughes
3) Josh Jackson
4) Isaiah Oliver
These are the top guys ... and at 23 we have a shot at one. I don't know that the next round of kids is going to have enough to get the job done ... but if we trade down from 23 ...
5) Tavarres McFadden (had a bad year, but has great feet)
6) Carlton Davis (kinda slow and long, maybe not our style)
7) Jaire Alexander (injuries)
8) JC Jackson (Haven't seen much film on him)
The +1
9) Jalen Davis of Utah State ... I keep seeing him the 5th round area and I can't believe that's real. If we skipped CB early and wound up with him I'd say it was no loss in value.
Note: I think Donte Jackson is a slot only ... hence why he's not on the list.
So, group huddle? Thoughts on these guys? Anyone that could be had later that I'm missing? After watching the senior bowl I became quite depressed for the possibilities at the position even though there are a bunch of bodies.
