Who lines up against Everson Griffin and Xavier Rhodes?

November 17, 2017 07:50AM
In my mind, they are the two Vikings defenders with the greatest chance to disrupt the Rams' offense.

Griffin, if my information is correct (please correct me if I'm wrong) typically lines up across from the LT (unlike Clowney, who seemed to be matched up with Havenstein most of the time last week). If that's correct, and the Vikings are not inclined to move him around, I like our chances of neutralizing him, as Andrew Whitworth is capable of blocking a guy like him one on one.

As for Rhodes, it will be interesting to see how the Vikings play this one. A lot of teams that assign their CBs a man, rather than a side, seem to have used their best cover guy to match up with Sammy Watkins. Given his recent performances, though, I wonder if we'll see Rhodes line up against Robert Woods. That could result in a good matchup for Watkins, who can exploit a weak point in the Vikings defense - defending the long ball (they are allowing a 98 passer rating against long passes).

Thoughts?
