Quarterbacks


It wasn’t a great day for Jared Goff. Both interceptions were solely his fault (one which may have very well been in FG range). He looked shaky for a lot of the day, but also had some positive moments. Specifically speaking, his last drive was immaculate. With just over one minute left in the game and no timeouts, he surgically moved the offense down the field and delivered a strike that should have been the game winning TD.

Running Backs


This isn’t so much a negative for Gurley, who only received 14 carries for 43 yards. This is more about Tavon Austin, who had a nice 27-yard TD, but also had five more runs that netted a grand total of zero yards. The gameplan seemed awful. Countless times Coach McVay called toss plays which were completely useless, and he continued to forget about the run all game.

Wide Receivers


Robert Woods was the most productive WR with five receptions for 66 yards. Cooper Kupp had some plays too, though he dropped a wide-open game winning TD which would have been remembered for a long time. Outside of that, Tavon Austin was a non-factor, and #1 WR Sammy Watkins didn’t have a single reception. Not good.

Tight Ends


We’ve finally got a Tyler Higbee sighting. He reeled in four catches for 98 yards, and nearly had another very impressive 25-yard-ish grab. He was extremely effective in the seam all game. Also, he sparked the final drive and nearly-completed comeback with a 35-yard reception.

Offensive Line


The OL allowed two sacks (One which was on Andrew Whitworth) in the game. Unfortunately, the sack was also a forced fumble which SEA ultimately recovered. They were better in the run game averaging 4.5 YPC. Not a terrible game, but not their best either.

Defensive Line


The defensive line wreaked havoc all day. They held the Seahawks running game in check allowing only 2.5 YPC. Aaron Donald played like a man possessed and lived in SEA’s backfield, applying pressure early and often. This group really ramped up on Sunday.

Linebackers


Robert Quinn, Matt Longacre, and Alec Ogletree all registered sacks. Mark Barron led the defense with 12 tackles, and like the defensive line, they were instrumental in holding the Seahawks run game in check. It was a great turnaround for a group that has generally been struggling.

Defensive Backs


Russell Wilson passed for less than 200 yards. The two “backup” Safeties - Cody Davis and John Johnson III - both had interceptions, where JJ nearly had an 80-yard pick six. I cannot recall at any point in the game where the Seahawks passing game was a real threat to the Rams secondary.

Special Teams


Two fumbled punts by Tavon Austin, again, one of which was lost. Johnny Hekker had a short punt for somewhere around 30 yards. Lastly, the reliable Greg Zuerlein missed a chip-shot that would have been a game tying FG for the Rams.

Coaching


In what seemed to be opposite week, it was Coach Sean McVay and Coach John Fassel who struggled, and Coach Wade Phillips who excelled. In my opinion, the Rams were killing in the seams all game - I would have loved to see that more in the offense. Also, more running with Todd Gurley, and less Tavon Austin pitches.
