Of course McVay's offense, Phillips' defense, Goff's development, Gurley's bounce-back, our WR corps, rookies, etc are all critical.
But the thing I am the sickest of watching is a team that constantly commits mind-numbing, drive stopping, game changing penalties.
You know, like the Fisher years.
McVay needs to set a precedent that will carry through for seasons to come: Play smart and within the rules of the game. Don't beat yourself, something especially important for a team as young as the Rams.
About the only veteran we can count on to reinforce this are Barwin and Whitworth. Most of the other veterans have only played under a coach that fomented stupid penalties.
The last 5 years, every time I saw a flag I just assumed that it was on the Rams and over 2/3rds of the time I was right. Time to start a new era.
Anyway, that's what I'm looking for today.
