Bonsignore: The ‘Fight for L.A.’ between the Rams and Chargers begins … now

My oh my, how the NFL landscape has seismically shifted in Los Angeles over the last 20 months.

The Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers?

Yup, that really happened.

And Year One of their co-existence begins Sunday.

The Rams host the Colts at the Coliseum.

The Chargers will be in Denver for “Monday Night Football” against the Broncos.

The Fight for L.A. is on.

For real.

Crazy, right?

We went 21 years without pro football. It dragged on forever, it seemed. A generation of kids grew up without a local team. A bunch of us moved on with our lives. Some developed a fondness for teams from other cities. Others digested the NFL as fantasy football devotees without a kinship to any one team in particular. And many just kicked pro football to the curb, hurt and angry the NFL had the audacity to pull out of the second-biggest market in the country after we supported it for nearly 50 years.

One way or another, we all just sort of carried on.

Then BOOM.

In the blink of an eye, seemingly, not one but two teams show up at our doorsteps.

Welp, Rams and Chargers.
