Here's an article from ESPN that directly quotes McVay:
"That's something that we're evaluating right now," new Rams head coach Sean McVay said about finding a starting center. "There are some guys on the roster that you feel can kind of play inside and play at that center position.”
McVay added that the Rams will look to "cross-train" some of their guards at center, a list that will probably include Jamon Brown and Cody Wichmann.
It is actually not that unusual to do that. I think the issue is the smarts of the Center to be able to make line adjustment calls. Otherwise, no reason an OG can't be converted to a Center. It just depends on what the OC wants that Center to do.
