This whole Brady Revenge Tour thing is ridiculous..

February 03, 2017 04:25AM
Brady getting his revenge for being suspended 4 games for cheating in the playoffs? Which ended up in a SB win? After his team being caught cheating in their first 3 SB wins? And now he wants revenge for being suspended 4 games?

The tagline for this Revenge Tour "this time its personal" cracks me up.. that was the tagline for Jaws The Revenge, which was one of the worst rated movies ever.. Hopefully the Falcons can make Brady's Revenge Tour a joke..

HOUSTON — Deep down, Tom Brady would probably love to tell Roger Goodell what to do with the Lombardi Trophy.
He has never admitted that publicly, preferring to take the classy route when pressed for his personal feelings on Deflategate, but Brady and the Patriots are a victory shy of completing the most vindictive redemption tour in recent history.

His teammates badly want it for him. They celebrated with far more passion than normal after beating the Browns in Week 5 — Brady’s first game following his four-game suspension.

And why was that?

“I think it’s pretty obvious,” Danny Amendola said.

Even before the season began, the Patriots rallied around Brady more than ever, and that’s saying something because the 39-year-old has never been anything but an admired leader. Brady’s teammates were thrilled for him after a victory against the Bengals in his first home game, following his 200th career victory against the Jets and after the record-setting 201st win against the Rams the next week.

“Tom has a huge heart,” Matthew Slater said. “As his teammate, you really feel like he genuinely cares about you. He really has a love for you, so it’s hard not to love the guy in return. With all of the adversity that he has been through over the course of his career, the way the draft played out for him, obviously the things he had to go through this year, you can’t help but be excited for the guy the way he has been able to overcome all of that and play great football over an extended period of time.

“And for us to be part of that history is special to all of us. We were excited for Tom and this opportunity that he has here coming up. We’re thankful to be part of his journey, and hopefully we can keep it going.”

Rob Ninkovich recalled a time when he walked past Brady and complimented his watch. That Christmas, Brady gave him an identical version as a present.

“That just shows you the type of guy he is,” Ninkovich said. “He is very giving. He is a great teammate. He gets on me every day about going to TB12 and getting worked on. He cares about his teammates. He cares about the team. He cares about the organization. He cares about everything that reflects his name. I think that’s why everyone rallied around him and why we want to do our best for him.

“Tom is the heartbeat (of the Patriots). The guy is phenomenal, a competitor, the best quarterback ever. It’s not just the way he is on the football field.”

When Dont’a Hightower heard about Ninkovich’s watch story, he cracked, “I’m about to go compliment that Escalade outside.”

Two years ago, after Brady was given a truck for being the MVP of Super Bowl XLIX, he forwarded it to Malcolm Butler, who won the game with an interception at the goal line. There are also the annual UGG boots and slippers for every teammate. He gave everyone a new line of Under Armour pajamas last week. Other players have gotten headphones and various other gifts.

“He is just a good dude,” Butler said.

There’s another element in play, too. A lot of Brady’s teammates were in middle school or high school when the Patriots won Super Bowl XXXVI, and were genuine fans of the quarterback. Logan Ryan has owned a Brady jersey since he was about 10 years old, and Jabaal Sheard wore a Brady jersey on the bus ride to the Browns game and planned to get it autographed.

Brady is the oldest non-specialist in the league, at least 10 years older than 43 players on the active roster. They’ve had plenty of time to witness his achievements, among them posting better per-game splits since the Deflategate 2014 AFC title game — 76 touchdowns, 15 interceptions, 65 percent completion and 301.1 yards per game in 33 starts — than his career averages.

And they’re eager to stand alongside him on the march for more.

“I think a lot of guys grew up actually watching Tom Brady,” Hightower said. “To actually play with him is one thing, but to see him shatter these goals and all of the things that he has done, it’s very rewarding. As cliche as it sounds, it’s crazy to come in and be able to see the guy work as hard as he does and to have all these things come up about him. It’s great to see your teammate conquer goals and reach a milestone as big as that. It’s 200-something wins, so it’s really crazy. I’m proud to be able to say that I play with Tom Brady.”

It’s also not lost on Brady’s teammates that he acknowledges them when pressed for a vindictive response in regard to his suspension.

“I’m motivated for my teammates,” Brady said. “They’re all the motivation that I need.”

Publicly, Brady won’t yield any personal feelings about a chance to finish this quest for revenge. But his teammates have admitted they want it badly for him.

“He’s got a big heart,” Slater said. “He really cares about the guys in this locker room, and I think that’s a little bit uncommon for a superstar like that to care about the special teams guys or the practice squad guys. We’re all equal in his eyes, and we really appreciate that about him.”
