Great D? A reminder

Two of my points over the last several years:

• We have lost several games in each of the last few years from winning positions--whoever the QB has been.
• A great defense does not break down as often and in such crucial situations as our does.

In all of the lamentations over Goff's minimal success on his debut, let's not forget one key point:

Our defense collapsed and gave up a 10 point lead in the last 6:00. Not only did we lose a game from a winning position, but our defense did not prove to be capable of closing out the victory.

Great defenses DO NOT lose games like that.

We have a lot of talent on defense. But ours is no where close to being a great defense.

Furthermore, I re-state my oft-proclaimed meme:

The PATTERN is the same, year after year, as players come and go. The PATTERN is Fisher's, and no amount of player talent will break the pattern.
