Now is the time for the Rams to start rookie Jared Goff

In the moments following a stinging, disheartening 17-10 loss to the New York Giants in London, Los Angeles Rams coach Jeff Fisher walked to the podium and immediately anticipated the line of questioning, displaying a clairvoyance that had mostly eluded him throughout the preceding game.

"The quarterback's not the reason, by the way, that we lost three games," Fisher said before the assembled media could even ask a question. "I'm staying with Case."

Case, of course, is Case Keenum, the undrafted journeyman who will ultimately be a backup if things go as expected. Keenum threw four interceptions in the Rams' third consecutive loss on Sunday. But Fisher said there was plenty of blame to go around and pointed to the wide receivers, because the first interception came on an accurate pass that wasn't caught and the fourth came on a communication mix-up that resulted in the intended target running the wrong route.

That, in essence, was Fisher's defense for not pulling the trigger on the 2016 No. 1 overall pick, Jared Goff, who has remained on the sidelines while a plethora of young quarterbacks excel. Don't buy it yet, though. It was just last year, immediately following a Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears, when Fisher said he was sticking with Nick Foles as his starting quarterback, only to declare Keenum his replacement the following day.
