Is Russell Wilson human? Have we checked it out?

This bit of news might make you question it. The Seattle Seahawks quarterback knew he had a long week between preparing for the Los Angeles Rams and also getting his injured ankle ready to play. So he decided to mostly give up sleep.

Wilson said on Thursday that he has slept about six hours total since spraining his ankle on Sunday, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. That’s over four nights. About 90 minutes of sleep per night for Wilson. And in the 22.5 hours per days he’s awake, he has been icing his ankle a lot, he said.

For all the concern about Wilson coming out of Sunday’s game, when Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh stepped on his ankle (accidentally … though this is Suh we’re talking about), Wilson seems like a lock to play Sunday. He has been practicing this week.

“Yeah, I’ll be ready to roll,” Wilson said.

The News Tribune said the Seahawks can’t believe Wilson’s ankle never really swelled up (again: might not be human), and Wilson credited ice and getting a walking boot on it right away Sunday. Wilson said the doctors and trainers are “kind of shocked it’s doing this well.” The Seahawks are grateful, because their backup situation is dicey. Had Wilson not been able to play they likely would have turned to undrafted rookie Trevone Boykin to start.

But no fear, Wilson seems fine a few days after he could barely move against the Dolphins. Wilson will be playing against the Rams, and maybe can sneak in a nap or two when the defense is on the field.
