NFLPA Collegiate Bowl by player ...

January 29, 2023 12:25PM
This is the weakest of the bowls, with most guys fighting for UDFA looks .... but with the notables being able to get Senior Bowl or Shrine invites (Malik Cunningham already has) ...

There are always a couple guys who show up and make a name for themselves, but mostly Im looking to see glimpses of what I saw from certain players during the season. Depth players at positions that could develop.

Guys that I thought were overlooked might end up here, too. In this case there were a couple.

And finally, sometimes positions are just so deep, like TE.

In the past, this game was barely watchable, but with extra years of eligibility no because of covid, these are getting much better.

So I'll put the lists of each team out ... so the names are there, but I'll only note on a player if I have an opinion I feel strongly about, good or bad.

NATIONAL
Jayson Ademilola DT 77 Notre Dame
Alan Ali OC/G 56 TCU I like him, but he didn't do anything extra for me during the game.
Calvin Avery DT 90 Illinois
Zaire Barnes LB 53 Western Michigan ST next level, could work into a starter role. Good athlete.
Micah Baskerville LB 52 LSU
Jahleel Billingsly TE 88 Texas A Bama transfer with tons of potential that never put it together. Project.
Isaiah Bolden CB 23 Jackson State Game seemed a little big for him.
Ronnie Brown RB 30 Shepherd Supposedly super speedy, didn't see it.
LaTrell Bumphus DE 99 Tennessee
Malachi Carter WR 87 Georgia Tech Had one great catch and another almost great catch. UDFA watch.
Todd Centeio QB 1 James Madison I am not now, nor have I evcen been a fan.
Macon Clark S 37 Tulane I thought this kid would be in bigger bowls, I like his play and Tulane took USC.
Jeremy Cooper G 74 Cincinnati
Brandon Council G/T 71 Auburn
Jonathan Cruz K 14 Mississippi
Malik Cunningham QB 3 Louisville He's really not that less polished than Lamar coming out. No idea why he's not getting more attention, I'd bet the Ravens are hoping to snag him as a backup.
Emari Demercado RB 33 TCU Stuck behind my 5th rated back at TCU, he came in a ran on Michigan.
Dillon Doyle LB Baylor This guy is just a fun gadget, can't imagine he wouldn't make a team.
Silas Dzansi T/G 60 Virginia Tech I don't have many V Tech games, but this guy held up.
Bailey Edwards WR 81 Albion College Braylon's little bro, 6-3 195 and fast, has almost no production.
Michael Ezeike TE 84 UCLA TE position depth is sending draftable guys to these games. I like this kid, this draft will push him down, but he's athletic and angry.
Joey Fisher T/G 76 Shepherd
Noah Gindorff TE North Dakota State
Dalton Godfrey LS 46 South Dakota
Jalen Green S 20 Mississippi State
Taylor Grimes WR 80 Incarnate Word
Jovaughn Gwyn OG 54 South Carolina He held up really well. Looked like he belonged in a bigger group.

Louis Hedley P 94 University of Miami
James Jackson OC 68 South Alabama
Demontrey Jacobs T 67 South Florida
Jaray Jenkins WR 11 LSU
Nash Jensen G 66 North Dakota State
Anthony Johnson S/CB 31 Iowa State
Braydon Johnson WR 85 Oklahoma State
Jacquez Jones LB 55 Kentucky Splash play guy that also misses tackles, same in the game.
Steven Jones Jr. CB 26 Appalachian State Likely player for promotion, might be highest drafted ... I had he and Shaun Jolly last year as the best group of 5 CB duos. The announcers hyped him up, too, and he made some of the better splash plays in the game including the tip that went for a pick.
Adrian Martinez QB 9 Kansas State Not a pro QB.
Corey Mayfield CB 22 UT-San Antonio
Krishon Merriweather LB 51 Texas Tech
Mark Milton CB 25 Baylor
Durell Nchami DE 93 Maryland
Joseph Ngata WR 10 Clemson
Kyle Patterson TE Air Force
Jimmy Phillips Jr. LB 59 SMU
Jordon Riley DT 96 Oregon
Thomas Rush OLB 58 Minnesota Cooper's lil bro had a really good game, better than I'd ever seen at MInn ... weird.
Brady Russell TE/LS 38 Colorado
DJ Scaife Jr. T/G 61 University of Miami
Ben Sims TE 86 Baylor This kid is another good TE that will get buried in this class, had a flat and go TD.
Jacob Slade DT 64 Michigan State
Keidron Smith CB 29 Kentucky
Ameer Speed CB 27 Michigan State
George Tarlas DE Boise State
Jason Taylor II S 35 Oklahoma State
Brycen Tremayne WR 83 Stanford
Zeke Vandenburgh OLB 45 Illinois State
John Waggoner DE 92 Iowa
Emanuel Wilson RB 21 Fort Valley State Kid was the starter, looked strong on a couple runs ... ?? Ill watch him at the combine.
Jordan Wright LB 50 Kentucky
Owen Wright RB 36 Monmouth

AMERICAN
Mitchell Agude OLB 45 Miami (FL)
Holton Ahlers QB 11 East Carolina Had a great game, but XFL I think is his ceiling.
Deslin Alexandre DE 98 Pittsburgh
Daniel Arias WR 84 Colorado
Kemari Averett TE 86 Bethune-Cookman
Michael Ayers LB 50 Ashland University
Kivon Bennett OLB Arkansas State
Nico Bolden S 31 Kent State
Jason Brownlee WR 81 Southern Mississippi I really like this kid ... he had a long catch and put the ball on the ground going into the end zone, but he's got hands, and agility, length. Really like means UDFA or 7th rounder.
Randy Charlton DE 95 Mississippi State
Sean Clifford QB 14 Penn State Good college QB. I think that's it.
C.J. Coldon CB 22 Oklahoma
Trevor Downing C/G 52 Iowa State He's a late round or UDFA guy that I liked coming in who had a solid game I thought.
Collin Duncan S 29 Mississippi State
Cory Durden DT 90 North Carolina State
Ayinde Eley LB 56 Georgia Tech
Darrious Gaines CB 26 Western Colorado
Jon Gaines II G/C 57 UCLA
Xavier Gipson WR 12 Stephen F. Austin
Darius Hagans RB 9 Virginia State
Trevor Harmanson LB 59 UT San Antonio
Kaleb Hayes CB 18 BYU
Malik Heath WR 88 Mississippi Likely the best WR in the game.
Noah Henderson T East Carolina
Cooper Hodges T/G 70 Appalachian State
Eli Huggins DT 92 Kansas State
Keenan Isaac CB 10 Alabama State
DJ Ivey CB 28 Miami (FL)
Durrell Johnson OLB 51 Liberty Unfortunately didn't get to see him (hurt?), had 27.5 TFLs this year.
Quindell Johnson S 15 Memphis
Jeffery Johnson DT 77 Oklahoma Tulane transfer I like, had a good game I thought sutffing the run and some inside pressures.
C.J. Johnson WR 5 East Carolina Angry runner who didn't get a target.
Mikel Jones LB 53 Syracuse
Brandon Kipper G/T 68 Oregon State
Malik Knowles WR Kansas State Both Maliks were the best WRs ...
Harris LaChance T/G 76 BYU
Johnny Lumpkin TE 89 Louisiana
Ahofitu Maka OC 55 UT-San Antonio Stood out more in the game than during the season.
Tashawn Manning G 79 Kentucky
Marte Mapu LB 54 Sacramento State
Justin Marshall WR 87 University of Buffalo Louisville transfer I thought showed skill enough for the next level.
Scott Matlock DT 99 Boise State Favorite of everyone ... locked himself up a draft slot I'd bet.
Camren McDonald TE 80 Florida State
Grant Miller G/C 63 Baylor
Ryan Miller WR Furman
Tyler Murray LB 58 Memphis
Garrett Nelson DE 91 Nebraska Had pretty consistent pressure, but like during the season, doesn't have the means to "get around" too often.
Bijan Nichols K U.S. Naval Academy
Eddie Ogamba K 43 South Dakota
David Perales DE 97 Fresno State
Brad Robbins P 19 Michigan
Lindsey Scott QB 1 Incarnate Word Talented kid ... I wouldn't write him off.

Chris Smith II RB 13 Louisiana
Robert Soderholm LS 30 VMI
Cheikhe "Sidy" Sow G/T 62 Eastern Michigan
Austin Stidham T Troy
Titus Swen RB 2 Wyoming Had the best game running the ball. Broke a lot of tackles, and can KOR, so should get a hard look come april.

Mitchell Tinsley WR 85 Penn State
Quavian White CB 20 Georgia State
Kendall Williamson S 21 Stanford

That's what I got ... feel free to add on if you have something ... I'll copy paste this post into the post I do of the Shrine, then post both of those into my final for the Senior Bowl.
