They should just brought you to Nashville to bang 'em out yourself..
I'm really getting into this new Presonus Studio One setup.. Already got 3 drum tracks done, but need to add a couple more fills to them and then do some re-mixing on them.. Its a way better setup than my old way: old way I had to re-load the drums into the drum machine one song at a time and reset all the pads to whatever extra cymbals and whatnot that I wanted to use.. With this setup, all the drums are programmed into the songs, so I can change them at will a beat at a time and I have all 3 ready to go at the blink of an eye..
I started programming some midi piano and it sounded like garbage.. the notes were correct and the timing was perfect, but even a grand piano sounded like dog sh*t.. then I started adding effects and whatnot to the piano sounds and WOW! It sounds GREAT.. sustain and along drawn out echo just sound beautiful.. plus then I can take the melody notes from the piano track, copy/paste them into another track, change the midi instrument to strings or whatever, and have perfect strings or synth with practically zero work..
..and I ordered another gizmo yesterday.. my biggest problem mixing is EQ.. I SUCK at EQing different instruments so that they all "fit" together and sound good.. anyways, this doo-hickey allows you to load your favorite songs into it, and it analyzes the overall EQ settings on the songs you load and shows you how to set your own EQ to match the songs you loaded.. So, say you like Ozzy Osbourne's Bark at the Moon EQ.. You load that song, it analyzes it, then gives you a graph to set youe own EQ to to match it..
In theory, anyways.. I haven't tried it yet..
