For ill people to keep themselves isolated. Both viral illness and comorbid illness or those with risk factors. For healthy younger folks this risk is minimal.
But isn't part of the problem that a person can have the virus and not know it... hence NOT keeping themselves isolated but then passing it on to folks who could really get sick from it? The virus doesn't affect everybody in the same way so it's hard to know if someone has it or they don't ... except by testing for it and even then, the tests aren't 100% accurate, correct?
This is true Mama. But NewMexico is right as well.
I've heard anecdotal reports of workers in some industries who are reporting to work sick out of fear that they may lose their job if they take time off to self-quarantine. These reports are coming from those meatpacking plants in the Midwest and down South where the operators are performing cursory temperature checks before letting anyone inside. The reports I heard about suggest some workers are taking Tylenol (or other fever reducing medicines) in an effort to artificially defeat the temperature checks. If this is true, it's selfish and not helpful.
