THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE best reply I have ever seen was when I was in the USAF. Under unique circumstances, we had a rather large group of B52s return very late from a flight (Between 1-2 AM) The base newspaper had several people write to complain. Our base Commander replied. He DID apologize because it was indeed way past when they always tried to terminate flight ops. But he ended his apology with this (Word for word) "Because you heard our B52s at 1 AM, you more than likely will never hear a Soviet Bear Bomber or Mig at 1AM".
