When I bought my Toyota Camry last year, the salesman was sitting next to me in the passenger seat showing me a bunch of stuff on the dashboard including the radio functions. As he was skimming through some stations... I heard some smooth jazz music. I grabbed his arm and said, "Wait.. WAIT... go back. What station is that???" 'cause smooth jazz radio around here died about 11 years ago. He goes back and shows me that it's KLOU, which is a 60's, 70's and 80's music station. BUT.... it was KLOU HD---- I Heart Radio. I had never heard of such a thing. I was shocked and SO happy to discover that I can listen to smooth jazz radio to my heart's content. There are no commercials, no DJ's, no ads.... just my favorite music. Every time I'm in my car I'm in heaven. I hear artists I've never heard of before (when I look them up online I find out they had a hit like 8 years ago. Since we're out of the loop, it's hard to stay current which we definitely do not). My old Mazda just had plain old AM-FM and that's it. But in THIS car, I can listen to stations that have HD channels. WOW. Like I said, I'd never heard of that before so I was delighted and thrilled with this feature on my car.
I have no idea if colleges around here play jazz on their stations. I never listen to them. I only listen to two radio stations. If I'm not listening to my smooth jazz station, then I'm listening to 101.1 ESPN.
