I sat through about 40 prospective juror questionings. About 60 of us were chosen and I think only 5 of us were left without having been called up before the 12 and 1 alternate was settled on... I got very lucky.
But here's the deal.. and it's bit like your story... after listening to 40+ prospective jurors I was more terrified of the jurors than the guy on trial.. even if he WAS guilty. I'm sure most of them were coming up with #%$ to get out of jury duty BUT... what they admitted too and claimed to present themselves as 'biased' was so whacko I left the courthouse convinced the world had about a week before armageddon descended on us all.
Came a time when I considered rising to my feet and placing under citizen's arrest every prospective juror in that courtroom.
