I'm still cold. going to take a few days of hot sunshine to thaw me out.
Well.. things didn't go as planned... We had to rush our trip... and thus... no, or at least very little, sight-seeing. BUT... what we did see was spectacular.
We took off early from Colorado on the trip home to beat the 'snow' that was expected at 9am... we left at 6am. The snow hit at 6:05am. Not more than 10 miles out of town, (Gunnison, Colorado), I had to stop and put on snow cables. It was some 50 miles later at 25mph that I was able to take them off.
And we headed west. Perhaps more deer than I've ever seen in one day in my life... thousands. A few hours down the road and it was Utah.
Ever see the movie "Cars"? Well, that's where I was. On the return trip along I-70 we pulled into some "viewing areas"... unable to stop for long because we had to get home. One of these areas was "Eagles Canyon"... named so because one of the discoverers said, "the canyon is so deep an Eagle could not fly out of it".
Well, it's not that deep... if you compare to the Grand Canyon, for example... but it's deep. And actually I found it every bit as spectacular, in some ways more-so. More, or at least more easily visible, geographic features.
Blowout nearing Las Vegas.. so a 1.5 hour delay getting it repaired, on a Sunday so that's not too bad.
I remember posting about the 4-corners area of the USA I traveled thru going to a Rams game. I said it then, I'll say it again... the American Southwest... Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona... is "Gods Country". The earth is alive there... Native American's saw 'spirits' there... 'gods' of various sort... today we call them 'legends', and 'myths'.... well, I've been there... I think they had it right, the Native Americans... we are the ones blind.
We left Colorado at 6am... I was in my bed at 1am. Long day, a VERY long of driving. I think I'll go back to sleep. - JamesJM
