SO....I had to take a " Take it for what it is" attitude. It was cheesy over the top fun but worth $50 for a two person experience?? Yes, a good time with my Son IS priceless but going to the movies has REALLY lost it's joy in my book. I mean....For $50, in just a month or two, I'll be able to buy the DVD, three or four 12 packs of Coca Cola and SEVERAL bags of microwave popcorn....that won't be 1/5 crumbs. Only because we really don't go very often did I suck it up. But the routine "for something to do" trips to the theater are LONG gone in my book.
Cost and convenience are the main reasons I prefer watching movies at home rather than in a movie theater. In the past 10 years, I've been to the movie theater just once and even then, I fell asleep during most of it (It was 50 Shades of Gray and I saw it during my chemo treatments when I was beat all the time). No, I don't have a gargantuan screen and surround sound at home, but I can pause a movie, rewind it to see something I may have missed, turn on close caption if I need to, I don't have to contend with people making noise around me and ruining the experience, and I have all sorts of goodies and beverages I can grab from my kitchen without missing a moment of the movie. If it's a fairly new movie, I can rent it On Demand for $2-$6 but most of the time, I just wait for it to become available for free on cable.
