He's 13 and skis downhill (which always worries me) giant slalom and slalom. His favorite is slalom. His hero (heroine ?) is Macala Shriffin. He's graduated to the Far West Ski Assoc so now its not just the Tahoe kids he competes with but kids all over the western U.S. Two weekends ago he was in a slalom race at Nortstar with over 100 competitors-most all of which are in ski academies where they live and go to school during the day and train after school. Most of your Olympians came through academies. But its like $60 grand a year-so he can forget that. He attends public middle school in Sac. and trains on weekends. Anyway on the first run he was in the top ten (out of at least a 100 pretty good skiers). Second run he was even faster but missed a gate near the last two (actually going to fast !).
I'm really not sure either his parents or us would truly want him to do what's necessary to be in the Olympics. They really have no normal life and its pretty one sided. But I'm sure he wants to.
