Growing up we did have gangs but not like today. The old adage that its about the family if still true IMO. I've talked to some in gang prevention units and to a person they say that unfortunately the gangs have taken the place of "family values" in the inner cities-meaning there really is no "home"except for the gangs. And it isn't just fatherless or motherless children or one parent households either. Many of the parents come from gangs themselves. Again, the honest truth-IMO-is that the ones that are having children are those that shouldn't be and the ones that are not are the ones that should be.
