doesn't freak me out a little. beginning, middle and end...
Not ever going to Hawaii, aka., shark bait island. OK, jk, we've had a few shark attacks on the East coast... and to be honest, it is in my mind when we go to the beach.
For the record(and I just looked it up) there have been 4 reported unprovoked shark attacks in Delaware... since the 1800's. But just a few years ago a boy got bit in the arm at a beach we regularly go to. And it was in 4 or 5 feet of water, which at that beach is about 10 steps out... the drop off is pretty quick.
And I'm not sure if this is in every state but in Delaware you cannot take a shark out of the water. You have to unhook and release it while you and the shark are in the water... at least surf fishing, not sure if you have to keep the shark in the water when fishing offshore. Years ago, before this new law, I caught a 4 foot sand shark with a full set of gnarly teeth is a little disconcerting and I had it completely on the beach. Not that they are aggressive but I'm sure I would be perceived as the threat while trying to remove the hook... in the water.
