with barracuda.. Not the same scenario, but reflections being mistaken for bait.. Yeah, I chase sharks for videos and whatnot, but barracuda actually give me the willies more than sharks.. Sharks can be, at least somewhat, predictable - as long as you see them.. barracuda aren't always predictable.. I know every time I see a barracuda I cover my rings and anything else shiny I'm wearing.. Heck, a lady in Mexico 7 miles down the beach from us was killed by a barracuda while snorkeling - she dove down and a barracuda hit her on the neck due to her necklace and she bled out before they could get her to a hospital..
I think the scariest thing I've done is dive through a bait ball - thousands of small fish swimming in a circle for protection - while 3-4 barracuda hung out underneath them picking one or two fish off whenever they wanted.. Pretty uneasy feeling..
People fear sharks....for good and obvious reasons....but the barracuda is a high speed torpedo short distance...unpredictable
