That was clearly Warner
I don’t know anyone who would have given Bruce the MVP or Warner in the SB. I can’t even recall another play Bruce made in the game other than that one. Warner shattered the SB record for passing yards in that game. A record that would be eventually broken twice by Tom Brady in back to back SB against the Falcons and again the eagles. Warner was hit time and time and time again in the that game. Played most of the second half with a rib injury. Once the game winning throw Warner was destroyed as he just got that ball off. He was absolutely hammered in that game
That being said a case can be made that Bruce belongs on the HOF without the exaggerations. By every statistical category he belongs and he will get in. If not this year than another
One of the clearest reasons? Prior to Warner or Faulk or Bruce or Pace of Hakim or Vermeil, or Martz... Isaac Bruce would have broken the NFL record for the most yards receiving in a single season if it was not for Jerry Rice beating him out that very same season in 1995. The difference? Rice had HOF QB Steve Young throwing to him and an all-star cast on offense to support him. Bruce had Chris Miller and Mark Rypein as his QBs. Thats all you need to know about Ike Bruce. He followed that season up with another 1,300+ yard season on a 4-12 football team
No exaggerating necessary
