i'm actually confused by what reads as something like hatred for weddle in this thread and the worst fa signing ever by the rams. did the guy run over all over all of your dogs or something? did he cost the rams a return trip to the post season this year?
weddle was was not a significant fa signing at under $6M this year. he was clearly signed as a bridge to the safety tandem of the future and not the future himself. if i heard the announcers right during today's game, weddle is 2nd on the team in tackles - which in my mind indicates a problem with the personnel in front of him. a deep safety being a leading tackler on a team means either the group in front of him doesn't tackle well or he is something special. i think we all, myself included, agree that weddle is nothing special at this point in his career.
plus, according to him, he needs surgery on his knee and shoulder. who knows how long he was playing with those issues.
who else would you have signed last off season without hindsight from this season? earl thomas? the honeybadger? look up their contracts. they don't fit it the rams cap space over the term of their contracts - cap hits or dead cap wise.
i get we're all pissed about not getting to the post season, but really? weddle is the villian?
i'd much rather hear from johnson, rapp and christian as to weddle's value to the rams in 2019 than a bunch of guys who have had their dogs run over by the guy.
that said, the fact that weddle wouldn't give intel to wade and the defense on the ravens before that game is reason to cut his a$$. whether or not he wants to stay. either you're a ram or you're not b!t<#
