In the Game Time forum I proposed that this was a coaching strategy.
I think we needed Goff to get his feet back, and the only way to do that was to keep him clean.
A bunch of penalties is a small price to pay to get your offense back. Perhaps the coaches realized that was a good gamble to take, and if so, it paid off today.
As two more holds came, they were mostly all side hold to keep the defender who beat him to hit Goff. He was not benched, and usually a young guy who gets a penalty for holding, would let the guy by so he would not get another penalty. But that would mean a sack, or at least a pressure and hit.
We have seen when Goff gets pressured and hit, his game, skills, accuracy, reads, etc break down. I would not be surprised if Edwards was doing exactly what he was told to do.
