Well, it looked that way to me (i.e. part of the game plan).
Was listening to Kirk Morrison on the post-game show. He said that he has absolutely no idea how the Ram offense is gonna turn it around. In no particular order he said:
1) Opposing defenses now KNOW that the Rams have no rushing attack;
2) Goff NEEDS play-action to be effective;
3) The o-line is a mess across the board (really singled out Havs) and thinks it will get even uglier next week when the Bears come to town; and,
4) That Johnny Hekker fake punt? That was the result of a head coach who no longer had the confidence in his offense to solve problems. I suspect that this was the reason for bringing Bortles in the game as well. McVay is searching for anything to work.
He went on to say that the Ram offense has become predictable to good NFL defenses. This is the reason why Goff is bootlegging right smack-dab into D-linemen.
