At this point, the offense was my biggest concern. So now we'll lose to the 49ers/Pats/Bears of the world 13-7 instead of 20-7?
I wanted that first round pick in 2020 like everyone else does but I think this is a page out of Bill Belichick's book. ie
Stephon GilmoreDefense still wins championships 80% of the time when the NFL postseason begins.
A defense that can get off of the field on 3rd downs helps the offense significantly.
The Rams O-Line was probably was not going to be fixed on the same level Ramsey is going to help.
The salary cap can easily be tinkered with for 2020 when the Rams don't have to pay some of the current players on the Roster.
I doubt most of these players are on the books for 2020. Brockers, Talib, Whitworth, Cooks, Fowler, Havenstein. I could list others and give hypothetical contract restructures that I won't waste anyone's time with.
There are no guarantees the O-Line will be fixed anytime soon but I'm fine with the risk they took on Ramsey.
The Rams front office makes their mistakes but I have to admit I would've pulled the trigger on this trade myself.
Snead and McVay will make a huge effort to transform the O-Line for 2020 and they believe Ramsey is a cornerstone piece for the defense just like Donald is.
THANK YOU Snead, McVay, Demoff and all that signed off on this.
