I mean, I fundamentally understand inside-outside zone running. But didn't fully understand how the blocking works, and why the TE is so key. Because at the end of the, the TE has to keep the SSLB either pinned inside for an outside zone play, or pinned outside for an inside zone, and its not like the LB is just going to play head up over the TE so it can be easy. TE has to be quick and strong, and have very good technique or the system not only won't work, but the TE will constantly get flagged for holding.
These details are so helpful for looking at the replays and understanding what worked or where it went wrong. But also why the Rams select some guys and not others. Also helps me to understand why, when these young guys are "cross training" at different positions, that things can look pretty uncoordinated. Tough enough to do this from one set position: but from 3 or 4 or even 5? Yikes.
