Being in concussion protocol is no proof of having experienced a concussion. Since a concussion is difficult to identify, demonstrating symptoms is a key determinant. The protocol is a method of detecting symptoms over a period of time for individuals who experienced a situation where a concussion may occur(like a blow to the head). If no symptoms occur than the protocol determines no concussion was experienced.
I think there is zero chance Weddle would be playing had he experience concussion like symptoms throughout the week.
