that they, (the Rams and McVay), are simply trying to do too much with him too early? He is young, as a plethora of people pointed out to me today 
Simplify things or better... because I don't think that's the correct term... in the movie "Seabiscuit' there is a great quote...not about football, or even perhaps translatable TOO football... but never the less... "He just needs to learn how to be a horse again".
Maybe just let the big dog eat.... Goff has always seemed quite adept at that strategy to me. Allow for a few mistakes and ease up on the reins, (if they are applying reins).
