To me, this is...

akin to saying that he will pull up on the field rather than make a play.

If he thinks he knows where the Raven QB is going with the ball, because he practiced against their offense so much, should he not go there, should he drop the interception deliberately, should he refuse to make that play?

Because making the play would be using his knowledge of the Ravens against them. Right?

I don't see a substantive difference between that, and not helping the Rams offense understand what the Ravens' defense will be doing.

Maybe the Ravens should pay 1/16 of his salary this year. Maybe the Rams need a different safety to play that game.

The rules of competition are what they are. Go all out within the rules of the game. Otherwise, give no quarter, ask no quarter.
I've seen actual NFL brothers quoted as saying that they wish each other well, but when they meet in a game, that goes by the board, and it's business as usual.

Weddell is adhering to something unique here that I haven't heard any other player express, and it sounds like it's more about "me" than "we".

I have to conclude that his heart is with the Ravens, and the Rams are just a paycheck and maybe a ring, but nothing more.
