Remember hearing about this, but never was able to actually listen to it, thanks so much! Pat Haden throwing four int's, IMO, the worst QB in Ram history for what he stopped the Rams from doing. I felt all the others were better, Harris, Jaworski & Ferragamo, but for some reason, Carroll Rosentbloom (CR) had a soft spot for Haden, who could not throw the ball 50 yards with a hurricane behind him.
Anyway, I also was never a fan of Malavasi because CR was going to hire Bill Walsh in 78, but at the last minute, went against his gut and hired George Allen...Pat Haden could not stand Allen and that led to two exhibition losses in 1978 in which CR fired Allen and elevated Malavasi, Haden's choice. Anyway, now the Rams did not have George Allen or and up and comer like Bill Walsh, they had ole Ray, who fell asleep. Taking nothing against Malavasi, who was one heck of a defensive coach and led the Rams to a great upset over Dallas in 1979, but even with an appearance on Fantasy Island, I could never warm up to Malavasi....Again thanks for this.
