McVay might have been taking Patriots D idea

Signing Weddle and Clay seems to be inspired by the deceptive Pats defense. Weddle is great at tricking QBs and deceiving defense, Clay is also very switchable to different roles.

The switching of positions by the Pats in the SB was a huge deal and a big reason we got shut down. As McVay had a front row seat to that brilliant play and undoubtedly watched the film over and over, I am sure he was inspired and wanted to be able to do similar things.

This makes me think he is stepping up as a coach and planning for the SB before the season begins, or at least planning for different tricks.
