Those types of TEs don’t grow on trees. When you get one of those and trust me nobody knew Kettle was that NOBODY you are as happy as punch
But those kinds of TEs are obviously rare
What the Rams need is more production and targets to their TEs. The TEs they have are functional the issue is they don’t use them. They don’t use them for two reasons
McVay has been in love with the 3 WR sets and why not? Name another team that as Cooper Kupp as a 3rd WR and an emerging Josh Reynolds who has a ton of physical upside.
Also Todd Gurley is far more effective running out of the 3 WR sets than he is running out of two TE sets where defenses can stack the box. Gurley is not a great runner in traffic and a lot of bodies. CJ is much better at that and that is why he got so many touches in the playoffs as McVay trusted CJ more running in those formations
In the 3WR sets the TE mostly stayed in to block to help the oline
If the Rams continue with the 3WR sets with Kupp healthy then the TEs simply won’t have many opportunities. If they changes it up next year and continue with more 2 TE formations... the TEs production likely goes up.
