The Rooney rule is failing partially because the assistant coaching ranks don't have enough minorities.
Worse, it appears that there are even fewer minorities coaching on the offense side of the football.
This new league could easily be the launching ground for a number of new faces.
I had a great time listening to a number of current veteran players in their later years, and former players of color being interviewed during Super Bowl week. All of them were well spoken, highly entertaining listens. The in-depth knowledge expressed of what the Rams and Patriots like do scheme wise, and then making it an enlightening and yes, humorous interview caught my attention.
Maybe it's the low pay for asst coaches, and the part if your head coach is unsuccessful your out the door, too, and just one of many looking for new spot to squeeze into.
For me, it sure seem there's plainly a lack of opportunity, and I'd be thrilled to see it addressed.
