Kurt was in St Louis on Monday to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the St Louis Cardinals-Minnesota Twins game and do some charity work. They interviewed him in the booth during the game and to my ears he doesn't sound serious about a comeback, not now. He sounds a bit wistful when he talks about no longer playing. He definitely misses it. I think its just his ego and love of quarterbacking talking when he makes comments like that. I dont really think he means it..
Kurt Warner says he considered NFL return in 2018Less than two months from turning 47 and more than eight years since his final NFL game, former Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams quarterback Kurt Warner says he considered coming out of retirement for the 2018 season.
As a guest in the St. Louis Cardinals broadcast booth during Monday night’s game, for which he threw out the first pitch, Warner talked about missing the game and said he “sometimes hopes” a team would give him 20 plays of 7-on-7 in practice to “let me see if I can still do it.”
“I was actually ready to, for this coming season, I actually talked to a coach, and my wife said, ‘Go for it, I think it would be great,’” Warner said. “So I actually talked to a coach about possibly doing it if they needed someone, but then they went out and signed somebody. I don’t think they thought I was serious. So I think we’re completely done now.”
It’s unclear if Warner was joking, which he has done previously on the subject. He tweeted on April 1, 2015 that a team asked him if he would consider doing a private workout, but Warner said two days later that it was an April Fool’s Day joke.
Warner last played on Jan. 1, 2010 in Week 17 against the Green Bay Packers. He finished the 2009 season with 3,753 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, good for a rating of 93.2.
A two-time MVP and four-time Pro Bowler, Warner played 12 NFL seasons with the Rams, New York Giants and Cardinals, making three Super Bowl appearances and winning one (Super Bowl 34).
