I just watched the Ram-Titans game and I’ve gotta tell ya that Quinn played poorly, indeed. Including 2 costly penalties, I might add. Won’t be all that hard to replace.
Barwin wasn’t impressive either, tbh.
I’m optimistic that fresh faces at LB could execute Wade’s schemes significantly better.
Quinn played well in that game. And it is hard to replace this kind of effort
He whipped Lewan, a Pro Bowl tackle. And Titans didn't gain yards to his side. Only time they got a good gainer was a play when Littleton was subbing in there at WILL. Barwin was one of those "You have to watch him play guys". There is a reason Wade didn't start Ebukan and Longacre over Barwin and Quinn, it's called talent and smarts.
If you want to think Rams can just plug in some ordinary Joes in a LBer, go ahead, but's it's fairy tales and candy cane thinking.
The guys who lay SAM and WILL are the same ones who play defensive end in the nickel and if you think Joe Schmo is going to get the edge pressure needed to win, you are in for a huge wake-up call. If's all fine to rah-rah and talk about optimism, but to gloss over a big hole in the defense with "faith" lacks perspective in my opinion. Don't worry, be happy makes for a nice song, but it's just a song.
They need to get good players in those positions via the draft because you cannot just rush three tackles and expect to get pressure, someone has to put some pressure on the edge and it takes talent.
