Rams43, you are awesome, I was riled about the article not you posting.
I learned something new about tendering today, RamsFanSinceLA was correct about the 3rd tender. The article was even wrong on that number (20 million), if the Rams wanted to tender a 3rd year, obviously they wont, 144% of Tru's salary of last year is over 24 mil, But his salary would be the top 5 Qb's, which is got to be closer to 26 million range. I think if Tru was willing to take a deal that avg. around 12 million (Jackrabbit's numbers), I think the Rams might go for it. Otherwise I can see them trading a low round pick for Aqib Talib. The would cost 11 million this year but only 8 for 2019.
From PHDram:
(b) Any Club that designates a player as a Franchise Player for the third time shall, on the date the third such designation is made, be deemed to have tendered the player a one-year NFL Player Contract for the greater of: (A) the average of the five largest Prior Year Salaries for players at the position (within the categories set forth in Section 7(a) below) with the highest such average; (
120% of the average of the five largest Prior Year Salaries for players at the position (within the categories set forth in Section 7(a) below) at which the player participated in the most plays during the prior League Year; or (C) 144% of his Prior Year Salary.
