It all came down to one thing.
In the 70's, the Rams never could get their hands on a great QB. And they constantly got knocked out by teams with HOF QBs.
Staubach and Tarkenton were their main nemeses, and then when the reached the SB they got a taste of another HOF QB in Bradshaw.
In the 80's, the Rams really weren't that close cause the Niners had a HOFer in Montana, and the Rams had something much less.
It's a QB league now more than ever now, but back then having a HOF QB was a huge advantage. Simply put, every time the Rams won a championship they had a HOF QB.
