Wow. Of course everybody is entitled to think what they want to think and feel what they want to feel, but man...IMO, this is pretty cynical.
The guy doesn't have to do anything. He's giving up, what ... a million bucks? Freely? Of his own choice? I'd say that's pretty generous no matter how much you already have. That's not to mention all of the other things he does to help other people.
I'd say it's more than just a "nice gesture."
If he's making $1.1 then he's giving up roughly $550k which is a LOT of money to you and I but a pitence to him who has $40-$50mil banked already.
The other stuff he's done and is involved in is impressive, all I'm saying is the money here, though helpful I'm sure, is not a huge chunk of jack to him, especially after the write-off.
