I just don't think 40 yard times matter all that much. You can view film to judge a guy's game speed. Maybe for some guy you don't know much about or have much film on the 40 is helpful. But otherwise, I think it is generally useless.
Cooper runs plenty fast with shoulder pads, helmet, and a ball in his hands. It's his moves and instincts that makes him what he is: a good NFL football player.
Neither Amendola nor Edelmann are particularly fast; but they are super quick, smart, instinctive, and good football players.
As often as not, the superfast guys wind up as gimmick players because they aren't great football players.
