I’m a big believer in two sides to every story, but that decision by Marrone is indefensible. There were SEVENTY TWO seconds left.
If the Rams were in a similar situation, there is no way Id support going for a 54-yard FG with 72 seconds left, and GZ has a great range. On second and eight with 72 seconds, you absolutely must give your kicker a chance to get a bit closer.
Just comparing FG percentages from 50plus vs. 40-49... significant difference. Add in a full 1:12 remaining, with rams leaving a 10 yard pass in the middle wide open, its a clear decision.
