Just a few minor observations about plays that have not been talked about "quite" as much as others....
--Havenstein recovery of Goff fumble. HUGE. Down 24-16... deep in our own territory... Boys had a real chance to go up by 15.
--Webster drop. MAN! Right in the breadbasket.
--Goff had two UGLY throws on the last drive. Pass to Higbee to his right could have very easily been picked. Also, pass to Watkins was poor, but Watkins made a great catch.
--Middle of second half, Goff rolls to his right, then throws a bomb to Higbee running down the left sideline. That play was ON. Goff overthrew it slightly (a speedier player would have gotten it). Next time... they will hit it.
--Cowboys WRs had at least 3 drops. So nice to see that happening to other teams and not us anymore! Terrence Williams with 2 big drops, Dez with one.
--TA's runs were even more impressive upon second viewing. Really, really nice quickness and shiftiness. Plus his post-run celebrations seemed a bit less annoying than usual... perhaps someone talked to him about excessive strutting after a five yard gain? One can only hope.
--Speaking of annoying celebrations... during the game, I was so locked-in I barely noticed Zeke's spoon feeding crap. On second viewing....oh man. Easy to hate that Eewok dude.
--Holy cow that call on Frederick was HUGE. So nice to see a call go against the Cowboys at crunch time.
--On fourth down at end of game, Dak threw sooner than he wanted to because he sensed AD closing in. This game, Niner gamer, that stuff on Marshawn Lynch... love how AD routinely steps up on the last play of the game.
--Whitworth for MVP. WOW. Stone cold domination.
Lastly: On plus side, Rams offense is so fun to watch I can barely believe it.
On the negative side: IMHO, Goff has not shown YET that he can come through at the very end of the game under extraordinary pressure with everything on the line . Against Washington-- we all saw it. On the very last drive against Dallas, our success was primarily on the ground. Goff had three throws on the last drive.
First pass: AWFUL jump-ball throw to Higbee on his right into triple coverage. Should have been picked. Honestly, I think Goff didn't see the safety.
Second pass: Nice throw to a WIDE OPEN Gurley in the left flat; no defender was within ten yards.
Third pass: Poor throw to an open Watkins that was behind and low, but Watkins comes up with the circus catch to bail us out.
So, on the last drive, three passes: one was fine, one was poor, one was terrible. I'm as huge a Goff fan as anyone on this board.... just noting that he hasn't come up huge with a signature game-winning drive. Not YET.
