Rampage2K-
Looks like I'll be wearing my Warner jersey to the game!!!
Will Kurt be wearing his Cardinals jersey?
Grits
Sadly, with team and fan support like this, it's no surprise to me that he'll be receiving his HOF ring at a Cardinals game. The Rams treated him like crap and the fans turned on him. And it isn't like it's an isolated incident. Do we really need to go through the list of greats and HOF's the Rams treated poorly?
2002, Kurt had a bad season early on and any fan who witnessed that can verify it. Then Kurt injured his hand and Bulger stepped in and the team was winning with Bulger. Some of us felt since Kurt gained his starting job via injury in 1999 that it was only fair to stay with Marc as long as the team was winning.
I believe that was the year Kurt did play in the game against New Orleans and except for an Az Hakim fumbled punt, darn near pulled out the victory. Or maybe that was the 2000 season?
Anyways, I recall a game in Chicago where Bulger was struggling and Martz told Kurt to go in and Kurt refused. That cinched it with Martz and for all intents and purposes Kurt was done as a Ram.
Grits
I think you missed the point with that Chicago game. Warner didn't refuse to go in, he told Martz that he needed to stick with his starter and not give up on him. Just because he was going through some struggles, you can't be yanking your starter in and out of the lineup. It messes with his confidence and causes the team to lose faith in him.
That's what Warner believed and how he wanted to be treated. He didn't refuse to play, he just talked Martz out of screwing Bulger over like he'd already done to him.
As far as it being fair for Warner to lose his job due to injury, do you really think the circumstances were similar? It sucked to see Green go down in the preseason but you know what he accomplished for the Rams? Nothing. On the other hand, Warner had won 2 MVP's and a SB for them. Seems pretty lousy to bench him after 7 injury-riddled games.
