SO many colleges are running the spread now. The NFL is simply going to have to adapt, fans are just going to have to be patient, and front offices need to put their QBs in a position to succeed. Let's not forget how much of a factor luck can be too...
Brees, Newton, Prescott, Mariota, there are plenty of QBs to come from spread heavy systems and have success.
This idea that you can just take a QB #1 overall and he'll turn your franchise around is such a confusing and pernicious myth. Who was the last QB to do that? Even Andrew Luck, who is fantastic, hasn't really turned the Colts around.
Winning teams are built on consistency, stability, and culture. This is easier said than done (we stuck with Fisher for far too long), but if we are luckily, hopefully McVay, Goff, and, sigh, maybe Snead, can be the keystones of sustained success.
Only time will tell.
