and I never tire of a good Warner story.
The earliest I remember watching him was in the NFL Europe league but I can't claim I paid attention. I was a "real NFL" snob and didn't take that league too seriously at the time. Was laughing at the names of the guys I thought the NFL was just using because they sounded like actual NFL players. It's easy to forget but "Curt Warner" was an NFL name back then. There were a few other guys playing that had names that sounded like recognizable players. Seems like there was a Dee Dee Lewis and I can't remember the others.
But, to your point, when I watched videos of Warner's old games later on, it does make one wonder how he fell through the cracks. And how many others simply never get a chance that we'll never know about?
It honestly makes me wonder just what these guys see. But then I wonder just how much I don't know. It's easy to assume that the scouts and coaches are looking for the best players but we all know it's a good ol' boys league and there MUST be some back scratching going on.

I will NEVER understand how this guy was overlooked by the NFL. There was never a time, not even a moment, when Warner showed any less that 'great'.
Since Warner I think... Hell.. I KNOW... great athletes get lost in the incompetence, the myopic insistence of considering only binary numbers on a readout, and any number of other reasons... by the hundreds, thousands, and that "daily". - JamesJM
