I think that's hyperbole.

So many things went wrong in 2016, some of which were just plain unique to 2016. None of it can reduce to one thing. And a lot of it will change for the better, especially if Goff comes through sooner rather than later.

Nothing that happened in 2016, it seem to me, is an excuse for the Rams to reach for need with their top picks.

Reaching for need is never a good thing.

If the draft falls to them with a strong set of offensive picks they will not be reaching for need, of course.
