45-99 before Martz and 0 winning seasons in like 10 years, with Vemeil going 6-10, 5-11, and 4-12.
5 out of 6 seasons making playoffs with Martz and 2 superbowl appearances as well as 3 straight 500 points seasons on offense.
0 winning seasons and 0 playoffs since Martz left
He completely reenergized a lifeless offense and made players play their very best football of their careers.
The great players became Hall of Fame players. The average players became good players. He was the master of player development and his specialty areas WR and QB were the Rams strengths. He also created space on offense and put the players in position to use their talent.
And don't forget while Vermeil Chiefs were 13-3 and lost in playoffs because of bad defense and never made it back to the playoffs ever again, because Vermeil stuck with his guys.
Martz took a bottom tier 2000 defense and had them #1 in the NFC in 2001 by getting a new defensive coordinator, replacing 7 or 8 starters, and letting Lovie Smith do his thing. The Rams got back to the playoffs 3 more times in similar situation.
