Rams81, you are the one who always says stuff about not doing projects. We now have a left tackle that will protect Goff. The line will be improved. The WR will be better, TE will be better, Gurley will be better. The head coach knows offense. We will score more points. Our D coordinator has top 10 defenses on a regular basis. We are ready to win this year. I do not understand the thinking to get rid of our best CB. Our starting D is set. Just need some depth. Let's play this year to win. We can make adjustments after the SB win. Next year if we do not have Johnson, will have more salary for others and then get a cheaper CB.
I agree with the early part of your post, Rounder, but disagree somewhat with the latter part.
First, our starting D is not "set". We have questions at LB, CB (even with TruJo), and S.
And it's an oversimplification to say some of us want to get rid of TruJo. Let's don't forget that we would gain a premium pick in a CB rich draft plus $16.7 million for other depth FA additions at several other positions.
Look, we're gonna cross this TruJo bridge either this year or next year since he seems uninterested in extending with us. I'd rather cross that bridge at a time of our choosing. Like in a CB rich draft with an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder. Also, I think it might be easier to strategize one's draft plans if one knows that a CB is needed for the long term, rather than just a maybe depending on the whims and demands of Tru and his agent.
Either way, the Rams can still play to win in '17.
