Simple Question About Ol' School Blue & Yellow Unis

I'm sure that this has been asked and answered before, but I must've missed it...

But does anyone know why the blue on the helmet is darker than the blue on the jerseys. I notice the same thing on the NYG helmets and wonder if it's just to make the other color stand out.
